The Board approved the minutes from the April meeting in Tallinn and reviewed progress against outstanding actions, recognising that many longer-term initiatives are progressing well and remain on track.
Formal governance updates included a change to the composition of the Board. The Board expressed its sincere thanks to Mary Connaughton for her contribution to EAPM and her commitment during her time on the Board, as well as her years as Delegate for CIPD Ireland.
The Board also recognised the contribution of Marita Salo, who will step down as EAPM Auditor following her retirement. Marita has served EAPM in a number of roles over many years, including as Vice President, Board Member and most recently Auditor. We thank both Mary and Marita for their dedicated service and wish them every success for the future.
EAPM Treasurer, Martina, provided an update on EAPM’s financial position and the annual audit. Overall, the organisation remains in a stable financial position, with expenditure currently below budget and the year-end forecast expected to remain broadly in line with expectations. The Board also discussed ways of improving financial visibility for Working Groups, including providing budget updates to support activity planning during the second half of the year.
Updates were also received from our Working Groups and from a number of national associations. Positive engagement continues with some prospective members, while mentoring and support arrangements remain in place for developing associations. The Board continued its discussions on how EAPM can strengthen the value it provides to member associations, exploring opportunities to expand professional development, international collaboration and access to new initiatives that support the people profession across Europe.
The Board discussed a potential partnership with an EU-funded leadership development programme offering free, research-based training for HR professionals and leaders. The Board welcomed the opportunity in principle and agreed to undertake further due diligence before deciding whether to promote the programme to members.
Preparations for the Annual Meeting of the Delegates Assembly (DAAM) in Athens continue to progress well. The Board reviewed the programme and agenda, with particular focus on creating a balanced event that delivers value for National Associations, the HR profession and EAPM itself.
The EAPM are exploring participation in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), amd the Board authorised the Secretariat to submit an Expression of Interest through the UN Global Compact Network Switzerland & Liechtenstein. Participation will provide EAPM with an internationally recognised framework to support its strategic priorities and reinforce its commitment to responsible business practices and sustainable development.
