Strengthening the value EAPM provides to its members was a central theme of the September Board meeting. The Board continued its work on defining the opportunities available through content, collaboration and connection, alongside the contribution each National Association can make to the wider network. The developing framework will help current and prospective members understand how active participation can create greater value for their own association and for the EAPM community as a whole.
The Board also agreed in principle to invest in rebuilding the EAPM website, recognising its importance as the foundation for EAPM’s communications, resources and member information. The work will focus on creating a secure, reliable and accessible platform that can better support members and EAPM’s future activities. A small project group will oversee the development, consult members about their needs and consider potential suppliers in line with EAPM’s procurement requirements.
Emerging technology and the future of the profession were another important focus. The Board recognised the strong progress made by the AI Working Group and approved its new name, the AI and New Technologies Working Group. The wider remit reflects the growing range of technologies affecting people, organisations and the HR profession. The group has also developed new guidance for HR professionals, which is undergoing final Board review ahead of publication.
Preparations are progressing for EAPM’s forthcoming webinar with the International Labour Organization, AI accountability and the future of HR. The webinar will explore how organisations can benefit from AI while ensuring that its use remains responsible, transparent and accountable. The Board welcomed the initiative and encouraged EAPM members to promote it across their networks.
Building on these discussions, the Board approved Lead change, keep it human as the theme for International HR Day 2027. The theme will explore how organisations can lead technological and workplace change while continuing to focus on human needs, capabilities and potential. EAPM members will be invited to help identify the supporting topics that will shape next year’s campaign.
As part of the 2026 EAPM elections process, the Board welcomed candidates for the roles of President, Vice President, Board Members and Auditor. Each candidate had an opportunity to introduce themselves, discuss their interest in the role and ask questions about EAPM and the responsibilities involved. Eligible candidates will be presented to members ahead of the elections at the Delegates Assembly in Athens.
EAPM Treasurer, Martina Burulic, reported that the organisation remains in a stable financial position, with expenditure and the year-end forecast broadly in line with the agreed budget. The Board also reviewed the 2025 financial statements and Auditor’s Report ahead of their presentation to the Delegates Assembly.
The Board reviewed progress with the periodic membership recalibration process, which helps ensure that membership contributions remain fair, transparent and proportionate while recognising the different circumstances of EAPM’s member associations. To support the Board’s wider governance responsibilities, risk management will also become a standing item at future meetings.
The Board also noted that the Partnerships Working Group has now concluded its work and thanked Karen Muscat Baldacchino and Elli Matsouka for their work in developing EAPM’s partnership proposition, together with Kai Saard for her support as Board representative.
