The association was formally established in 2011, but since the 1990s a group of Human Resource Managers in larger companies in Iceland had met regularly to talk about HR related issues.
Until 2015 the association was only open for those who had the title “Human Resource Manager” but from 2015 have all of those who work in Human resources department in Icelandic companies and institutions allowed to be a member.
The companies name was change from Flóra to Mannauður in February 2018, Mannauður in Icelandic means Human Resource.
