The LAPM was established in 1996 in order to promote personnel management in Latvia, to raise the level of expertise of personnel management specialists and to raise the prestige of HR Manager profession in the labor market, as well as to show a positive impact of effective personnel management to financial success of business. In 20 years the Association has developed into a solid society of professionals, where, putting together all the gained experience of members, it can provide modern personnel management and leadership solutions as well as professionally debate with European colleagues. During these 20 years, purposeful and systematic work to develop personnel management specialists in the areas of professional competencies, culture and implementation of the HR novelties has been carried out, and we can all be satisfied with the current situation in personnel management in Latvia.In the span of these years, personnel management as a function has changed from a “record-keeping department” with a significant responsibility for document processing to a “business partner” role, where the focus of responsibility has moved towards efficiency, meaningful work and employee involvement.
